Meet Dr. Amelia Ngozi Odo! She is a Visiting Scholar for the Alliance for African Partnership – African Futures Fellowship program, and works as a faculty at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Dr. Odo got her Bachelor’s of Science in Health Education, her Master’s in Public Health Education, and her PhD in Public Health Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In addition, she is a registered nurse and has diplomas in Public Health Nursing, Midwifery, and General Nursing! She has been a Visiting Scholar at MSU for 11 months and has worked in Global Health related fields for almost 20 years.
Currently, she is working on projects related to maternal and child health; evaluating the association between maternal micronutrients intake postnatal and infant morbidity. Her passions have been on reducing preventable health problems and mortality and promoting healthy living among the population. Her research interests include sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), disease prevention and control, and substance abuse prevention.
The advice she has for incoming and prospective students is “Global Health is an interesting field of study. You will not regret taking up this study, however, you need to be focused and work hard. Commitment and diligence are key to success.”
